QPR – Question, Persuade, and Refer – is a FREE suicide prevention training designed to give every person in our community the confidence and competence to help someone at risk for suicide.
Parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, squad leaders, foremen, police officers, advisors, caseworkers, firefighters and other community members – anyone can learn how to recognize the warning signs, offer hope and get help.
Join us in Johnson County for Let’s Taco ‘Bout QPR—a free, friendly suicide prevention training served up with delicious tacos. Hosted by the Burleson Fire Department, this event brings lifesaving skills to the community, because who knows better than our local firefighters the importance of being prepared to help in any crisis. Rural areas face suicide rates nearly twice as high as urban ones, making this training especially vital. QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) gives everyday people the confidence to recognize warning signs and connect others to help.
Even in a close-knit campus like Texas Wesleyan, mental health struggles can go unseen. Right now, more 19–30 year olds in Tarrant County die by suicide than any other age group—and that means our friends and classmates are at risk.
In partnership with Texas Wesleyan, this free QPR training gives you real tools to recognize warning signs, start hard conversations, and connect someone to help. +++ FREE TACOS
All are welcome—students, professors, RAs, staff, and anyone who cares.

Whether you're walking for a friend, a loved one, or yourself, this is a chance to take meaningful steps toward a brighter, more caring community. Let’s walk with purpose, share hope, and show up for one another. 💛👟🛟
In partnership with The Brave Fight and Mental Health Connection of Tarrant County, this training equips clinicians and school counselors with practical skills in QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) and CALM (Counseling on Access to Lethal Means). Learn to recognize warning signs, respond effectively, and reduce access to lethal means—leaving with tools and confidence to have life-saving conversations.
Suicide Prevention: A Community Conversation will be held on Thursday, September 25, 6:00–7:30 PM in the UTA School of Social Work Lobby. This free event will feature a panel of experts and individuals with lived experience, exploring prevention strategies and providing mental health resources in our community. CEU credit available for social workers.
Becoming a certified trainer of QPR’s industry-leading approach to suicide prevention is an excellent way for individuals and organizations to help empower their communities to effectively intervene on behalf of suicidal and in-crisis people. Having someone within your organization that is QPR Certified creates long-term sustainability for your organizations’ mental wellness initiatives.
Soul Shop™ for Leaders is a one-day workshop designed school counselors, faith-based clinicians, clergy, staff, lay pastors, and those in faith-based organizations to develop soul-safe communities by equipping members to better serve those experiencing suicidal desperation by facilitating the dialogue about the intersection of faith and suicide prevention.
September is Suicide Prevention Month and The Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation invites everyone—schools, churches, workplaces, families, and community groups—to Unite for Light with us. It’s a month full of events, trainings, and opportunities to learn, connect, and make a difference together.
